Survey of articulatory and acoustic aspects of speech communication
including classification of speech and sound types in languages of
the world. Introduction to articulatory and acoustic phonetics with
concurrent laboratory sections. Labs focus on perceiving,
transcribing, and producing the sounds of the world's languages, as
well as acoustic analysis of speech and performance of an original
experiment on speech production or perception.
