3 credits, TR 10.10-11.25 am
Instructor, Prof. Estelle Jorgensen

Prerequisite: E518: Foundations of Music Education

This seminar examines important questions regarding representative
historical literature in European music education and the
relationship of philosophical ideas and music education. Historical
developments are sketched by periods corresponding with developments
in musical and educational history; philosophical ideas are
approached historically and topically through a consideration of
musical and educational experience, and contemporary views of the
relationship of music and education. The course will consist of
discussions of readings based on study questions and occasional
informal lectures.
