ABOVE CLASS OPEN TO UNDERGRADUATES ONLY

Have you ever wondered why rich people steal? Or why some people
commit crimes and others do not? Why some people get caught and not
others? In this class we will attempt to address these issues as well
as cover substantive topics that fall under the umbrella of
criminological studies.

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the
sociological perspective regarding crime, criminality, social control
mechanisms, and the criminal justice system. Throughout the semester
we will examine a variety of different theoretical perspectives on how
crime is defined and has evolved throughout history, how criminals are
“managed” in the criminal justice system, as well as cover topics such
as white-collar crime, metal heath and crime, violence, drug crimes
and policies.
