T331 Scriptwriting (MW 11:15-12:30)
Description of the course: Students will be introduced to the craft
necessary to write a motion picture screenplay, and will be given
guidance through both instructor and peer critique.
Course format: Class time will be divided between lecture, workshop
and review.
Grading procedure: Grading is rigorous, based on class
participation, short assignments and completion of a feature-length
screenplay.
Required texts: The Art of Dramatic Writing by Lajos Egri, two
commercial screenplays (the films based on the screenplays will also
be screened in class).
Other pertinent info: Script formatting guidelines and a Microsoft
Word formatting template will be provided.
