This course is the 2nd in a four-semester sequence designed to
introduce students to the language and culture of an American Indian
people, the Lakota (Western Sioux) of North and South Dakota. Study is
designed around an introductory Lakota language textbook, weekly
lessons, tape recordings, and readings on Lakota culture. The course
requires both oral and written exercises (inside and outside the
classroom), and will teach both speaking and reading.

The four semester sequence fulfills the COLL foreign language
requirement.
