Course format: Two lectures plus a discussion/exam session each week
as well as a weekly lab.

Course description: Much attention is given to the array of plants
and animals on earth, as well as to their development and
functioning.  Both classical and molecular genetics are learned and
evolutionary thinking is introduced.  Ecology and  conservation
biology cap off the semester.

Required textbook: N.A. Cambell et al. Biology: Concepts and
Connections, 5th ed.   Also a required lab manual produced locally.

Exams/Papers: Three hour exams and a comprehensive final, as well as
several quizzes.  Students will also write up one formal lab report
and  report on an independent project.
