CLAS-C 351 The Golden Age of Athens
Sections 14213, 27084 (Honors section)/ Christ

NOTE: Both sections IW. This course introduces students to the
literature, culture, and history of late-fifth century Athens
through select readings from Thucydides, Sophocles, Euripides, and
Aristophanes. During this period democratic Athens was at the height
of its imperial power and witnessed a remarkable flourishing in art,
drama, and literature. We will ask how contemporary writers viewed
the problems and issues of their day in the political, social, and
religious spheres. (A&H, CSA)
