Literature of Spain

This course is an introduction to the critical reading of the
literature and film of Spain. Not only will the course familiarize
you with some important Spanish texts, but it will also help you
learn the critical vocabulary needed to analyze and communicate your
ideas effectively about these. We will read representative works
from the main genres of literature: prose fiction, theater and
poetry, as well as two films. You will write a good deal in this
course, with written homework assignments on the readings almost
daily, as well as longer, structured papers. The writing assignments
for the course will help improve your Spanish, enable you to become
a better writer in general, and promote discussion of the texts
studied in class.

The course and all assignments will be in Spanish.
