International trade, multinational corporations, transportation
technology, and new communications technology have made countries,
economies, cultures, and people increasingly interdependent. This
course will evaluate the causes and consequences of increased
globalization from a sociological point of view. The main focus is
on the global economy, the globalization of culture, inequality, and
emerging alternatives and resistance to globalization.
