OBJECTIVES:
Understand the basic concepts of 2-way, interactive video
communications. Be able to describe basic components required for
WEB-based, H.320, H.321, H.323, SDI, and other important
transmission technologies. Be able to discuss primary applications
and strengths for each. Be able to conduct and operate a live
videoconferencing session.
COURSE FORMAT:
This course is presented in a lecture/discussion format.
Students are given assigned readings each week that are targeted at
the particular topic. The associated sessions are aimed at creating
a comprehensive understanding of the topic and related issues.
Field trips and labs to view and experience various types of
videoconferencing technologies will further enhance the learning
process.
GRADING:
Lab Projects 100 pts.
Mid-term 100 pts.
Final exam 100 pts.
Participation 100 pts.

Total 400 pts.
Exams are designed to enable the student to demonstrate a
command of the major issues through essay and short answer.
Emphasis on participation is designed to encourage attendance
and “active” learning.
