Collins Living Learning Center | Art and Community
L210 | 28273 | Yara Cluver
This course will explore the relationship between art, community, and service. We will
examine artists who have considered community in their art making, discuss theories on
education that focus on the teacher/pupil relationship, and practice book-making techniques
applicable for working with children. The service component of the course will involve
working with 3rd and 4th graders through Sara Irvine’s art class at Templeton Elementary
School. The goal is to hone the children’s visual and literacy skills through book making
projects, and for you to get experience working with this challenging and rewarding
community.
