Youth Music Scenes will focus on the informal processes through
which young people negotiate childhood, “tweens,” teens, and youth
and, as a means of understanding, how they use music in their
everyday lives to construct a status quo as well as resist the
dominant adult culture. We will also deal with issues relating to
childhood, youth, and adulthood; representing negotiated conditions
as opposed to age-spans and the way such groups construct identities
around music.
