Gender Studies | Topics in Gender Studies: Sexuality & Orientation
G104 | 14568 | Basiliere, J

In this course we will survey the current and historical issues
concerning the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this body of work, our
readings will draw from the fields of sociology, psychology,
history, media studies, and anthropology in addition to queer
theory, women's studies, and personal narrative. The primary
objective of this course is to provide students with an overview of
the social, political, personal and familial factors that contribute
to the formation of sexual identity. Additionally, we will discuss
representations of the queer community, activist traditions and non-
normative sexualities.
