Topic: Appearance and Reality

What is the nature of reality?  How can we know?  What is the
relation between how things seem to us and how they really are?  In
this course we will consider these and related questions by reading
some central texts of the European philosophical tradition.  We will
strive to develop an understanding and apppreciation of the nature
of philosophical questions and the tools philosophers use to answer
them.
