Political Science | Political Data Analysis II
Y576 | 10208 | Ensley

This course is the second installment in the introduction to
quantitative methods in political science. The course is intended to
introduce students to the primary data analysis methods in political
science and to provide a foundation for learning and using more
advanced statistical methods. The primary focus of the course is
regression analysis, with most of the attention directed towards the
classic linear regression model. We will develop the model in the
bivariate and multiple regression context, as well as discuss
problems associated with the violation of the basic assumptions and
possible remedies for these problems. Finally, we will discuss the
use of instrumental variables (IV) regression, the analysis of
qualitative dependent variables, and the analysis of time series
data. Political Data Analysis I or the equivalent is a prerequisite.
