Introduces basic information retrieval (IR) theory and examines
cutting-edge IR research in order to gain insights into how theory
can be applied to practice. After learning about IR models,
classification, clustering, Web IR, and fusion IR, students will
explore how these IR methods can be employed in working IR systems
to enhance the retrieval outcome.
