S100 Introduction to Sociology (3CR)
10393 9:30AM-10:45AM MW
SYNOPSIS: This course will introduce you to the central theoretical
orientations, concepts, and methods of sociology. The course is
structured around five key topics: sociological foundations,
education, social networks, globalization, and social movements and
social change. The overall aim of the course is to introduce a way
of looking at the world–a sociological perspective or framework with
which to ask meaningful questions about societies, their
organization, and major structural transformations. The course
readings include selections from a reader on globalization processes
and a selection of chapters and articles from classic writings on
the topics described above.
