L317, Developmental Biology.

This class focuses on the basic principles of animal development. We
will review the various model organisms used to study animal
development, the processes and mechanisms that determine the
formation and function of these organisms, as well as the techniques
used to study development at the molecular and cellular levels.
Topics will
include: fertilization, cleavage, and morphogenesis of animals;
polarity and positional information; cell fate determination;
differentiation of specialized tissues; evolution and development.
