M416: The Biology of AIDS.
This class will examine the AIDS pandemic from a number of different
angles including the molecular biology and evolution of HIV, the
immune response to the virus, viral transmission and pathogenesis,
antiviral therapies, vaccine design, and social and political
actions in response to the pandemic. The course will afford students
the opportunity to examine a single infectious disease in detail and
appreciate how human behavior, society, and infectious disease can
dramatically influence one another.
