This course introduces beginning students to the Mongol Empire, the
largest land empire in the world.  Themes include the nomadic
lifestyle, the Mongol military skills, their institutions, and
government.  Readings from different cultures (Mongol, Chinese,
medieval Europe, Islam) introduce something of their culture.
