Political Science | Globalization in the Long Run

The current and widely held perception is that globalization (the
acceleration of economic interdependence among other things) is
something new. A contrary perspective is developed in this course by
demonstrating that globalization is an ancient process going back at
least 60,000 years , if not earlier in which there are recurring
surges of accelerated interdependence and political-economic
interactions. Looking at the bigger picture helps clarify what
globalization processes are about. Understanding of processes
relating to development, inequality, and hierarchy in the world system
is also facilitated.
