T283 is a hands-on production course in which students learn the
basic production techniques utilized in field and studio video
production. Students will learn camera operation, shot composition
and framing, lighting design and set-up, audio acquisition and sound
design, graphics, editing with Final Cut Pro and live editing with a
Kyak switcher, and the pre-production and post-production workflow.

Course Expectations
You are expected to:
	Attend all lectures and labs
	Complete all required readings
	Have access to a television, a DVD player, a computer, and
the internet
	Have an IU email account
	Know the contents of this syllabus
	Read the weekly schedule with sufficient time each week to
prepare for lectures and labs
	Check email prior to lecture and labs for course updates
	Adhere to all lab policies concerning safety, equipment
handling, and check out and check in procedures.
	Be a good citizen, treat each other with respect, and make
the extra effort

Course Organization
T283 has a lecture (10346) and lab component which students are
required to attend. Lecture meets once each week on Mondays 2.30 -
3.45. Lectures will be used to administer quizzes and exams, to
prepare students for the lab exercises for the week, and to discuss
larger conceptual and aesthetic issues related to video production.
Each student is assigned to one 4-hour lab meeting at one of the
following times:

Tuesday 8 - 12
Tuesday 1 - 5
Thursday 8 - 12
Thursday 1 - 5
