1/  DOCUMENTARY
Production Assistant/Coordinator/Researcher

Radio/Television Services (RTVS) is the video and audio production
unit for the University and PBS affiliate station WTIU.  WTIU is a
PBS member television station that broadcasts to 29 counties in
south-central Indiana, including the cities of Bloomington, Terre
Haute, and Columbus and reaching the Indianapolis Metropolitan area
via satellite. WTIUís primary mission is to deliver distinctive
programming and telecommunications services to meet the educational,
entertainment, information, and enrichment needs of citizens of all
ages in Indiana.

WTIU is well regarded among producers for public television. In its
nearly 40 years on the air, WTIU has enjoyed a strong relationship
with arts performers and cultural organizations and has produced
numerous award-winning broadcast documentary programs, including
Spirit of Monroe County I, II, and III, West Baden Springs - Save of
the Century, Restoring the Legend - The French Lick Springs Hotel,
Beaux Arts at 50; Hard Life, Reverend Ernest T. Butler, Wilderness
Plots, Our Town series, Indiana Legends series Sugarplum Dreams:
Staging the Nutcracker, and many more.
Each year, RTVS produces between 3-5 local documentaries for
broadcast on WTIU and beyond, including broadcast/distribution on
PBS and PBS Home Video.

The student will be assigned directly to an RTVS documentary
project, under the direct guidance of the Producer/Director.
Responsibilities will primarily be centered on production elements
research (newspaper headlines, still photographs, archive video
footage, interviewee bio research) and legal clearances.
Responsibilities may also include participation in field shoots and
post production workflow.  Students will receive on screen credit
within the completed documentary.  Hours and work location will be
flexible.



2/  THE WEEKLY SPECIAL

Videographer/Editor.  Responsibilities will primarily be centered on
production elements research (newspaper headlines, still
photographs, archive video footage, interviewee bio research,
location research, story idea generation).  Responsibilities will
also include participation in field shoots, post production
workflow, and studio taping productions.  Students will receive on
screen credit within applicable programs.  Hours and work location
will be flexible.



3/  THE FRIDAY ZONE
Production Assistant

Haute, and Columbus and reaching the Indianapolis Metropolitan area

programming and telecommunications services to meet the educational,
entertainment, information, and enrichment needs of citizens of all
ages in Indiana.

The student will be assigned directly to the WTIU weekly childrenís
educational program The Friday Zone, under the direct guidance of
the Producer/Host.  Responsibilities will primarily be centered on
production elements research (story idea research and generation,
arts and crafts research and procurement, interviewee bio research,
location research).  Responsibilities will also include
participation in field shoots, post production workflow, and studio
taping productions.  Students will receive on screen credit within
applicable programs.  Hours and work location will be flexible.



4/  WTIU/WfIU NEWS DEPARTMENT
Production Assistant

WTIU is a PBS member television station that broadcasts to 29
counties in south-central Indiana, including the cities of
Bloomington, Terre Haute, and Columbus and reaching the Indianapolis
Metropolitan area via satellite. WTIUís primary mission is to
deliver distinctive programming and telecommunications services to
meet the educational, entertainment, information, and enrichment
needs of citizens of all ages in Indiana.

nearly 40 years on the air, WTIU has enjoyed a strong relationship
with arts performers, cultural organizations, and News programs and
has produced numerous award-winning broadcast programs, including
News Breaks, INFocus, Indiana Gubernatorial Debates, and The Weekly
Special.

The student will be assigned directly to the WTIU/WfIU News
Department, under the direct guidance of the News Bureau Chief.
Responsibilities will be centered on video shooting daily news,
editing stories on Avid, transferring stories and newsbreaks to
online versions, and set-up and break-down daily studio newsbreak
tapings. Hours and work location is per the daily news department
schedule.



5/ EDUCATIONAL & PRODUCTION SERVICES (CLIENT PROJECTS)
Production Assistant /Coordinator

Radio/Television Services (RTVS) is the video and audio production
unit for the University and PBS affiliate station WTIU.  The RTVS
for-hire unit produces approximately 50+ video projects for
University clients and/or external private sector clients each
year.  Video projects range from educational videos (for web and/or
DVD or BluRay), to corporate marketing videos, to University event
coverage.  RTVSís largest clients include the University Office of
the President, Department of Athletics, and the IU Foundation.

The student will be assigned directly to client project(s), under
the direct guidance of the RTVS Director of Educational and
Production Services and/or Production Manager.  Responsibilities
will primarily be centered on production elements research
(newspaper headlines, still photographs, archive video footage,
legal clearances, interviewee bio research, location research, story
idea generation). Responsibilities will also include participation
in field eng shoots, field multi camera productions, and post
production workflow.  Students will receive on screen credit within
applicable programs.  Hours and work location will be flexible.
