Classical Studies | Classical Mythology
C205 | 6763 | Foster

Classical mythology lives on today through art, architecture,
literature, film, and even advertising—but to understand the
references and allusions, we must look back to the myths, legends,
and tales of the Greeks and Romans. In this course, we will meet the
gods and goddesses in the context of their earliest surviving
literary and artistic representations, and we will read (in English
translation) selections from essential literary works by Homer,
Hesiod, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Vergil, Ovid, and others.
