This course provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary study
of gender, including the social creations and cultural
representations of femininity and masculinity. We will examine
beliefs and behaviors surrounding gender and sexual difference
through political struggle, philosophical debate, and media
representations. Lectures, readings, and class discussions cover
several historical and cultural periods and contexts.
