This course provides an introduction to and survey of the history of
Westernscience since 1750. Emphasizing recent secondary literature
on canonical episodes, the course will consider the physical,
biological, and earth sciences,science in international comparison
and in social, political, intellectual, and institutional context,
as well as the history of technology and medicine. There are no
prerequisites, but some knowledge of modern science or modern
European or American history will be helpful.
