Permission only. Limited to Journalism majors, application due Oct. 1. Students in this course
will examine international news from the viewpoint of the journalists who report it, looking at
how audience expectation, reporter mindset and the political and economic priorities of a
news organization's home country drive and shape coverage. The focus this semester will be
on Japan, specifically the enduring impact of memories of World War II and the atomic
bombing of Hiroshima on foreign coverage.
