Philosophy | Classics in Ethics
P340 | 13650 | Abramson, Kate
This course offers an in depth study of some of the major themes in
the philosophical ethics of Aristotle, Hume, Kant and Mill. We shall
unify our study of these quite disparate works in ethics by trying
to think of each aspect of Aristotle, Hume, Kant & Mill’s ethics as
offering us a way of completing the sentence “A good person would…”
So, for instance, we might say that a good person would see the
world around her in a particular way, or that she would be motivated
by certain considerations and not others, or that she would take
some things into account in deciding what she should do but not
others, and so on.
