Topic: Reactive Attitudes
There are a special set of emotional attitudes that come into play
when we morally blame or praise one another, attitudes like anger,
contempt, resentment, indignation, forgiveness and gratitude. And
there are attitudes like these that we take towards ourselves--
guilt and shame, for instance. In this course, we will study such
attitudes both in general (as a category), and individually, seeking
a better understanding of each of the individual attitudes, and
trying to understand as well what role these attitudes play in our
moral practices.
