This class will deal with basic constitutional provisions and case law
regarding some of our most important fundamental rights and liberties.
We will discuss the history of the Bill of Rights and important
amendments that provide individuals with rights and protections from
excessive government interference in their lives.  We will discuss how
many aspects of the Bill of Rights have been incorporated to apply to
the actions of state government officials. We will discuss First
Amendment protections involving free speech, association, and the
exercise of religion.  We will also cover issues related to the right
to privacy, the rights of criminal defendants, and different types of
discrimination.
