This course is intended as a introduction to the field of social
psychology – the scientific study of the effects of social and
cognitive processes on the way we perceive, influence, and relate to
others. This course will provide you with an overview of many of the
major topics in the field. Despite the diversity of topics,
throughout the course you will discover that there are a number of
common themes and basic principles that come up again and again,
uniting each of these research areas. Lectures will add and expand
on textbook readings, with effort made to connect the concepts
covered each week to real-world examples and current events.
