SECTION AUTHORIZATIONS AVAILABLE IN BH402.
W403 is an advanced course in poetry writing. Students will be asked to write and submit for
workshop discussion at least 10 poems, to revise these poems for a final portfolio of work to be
submitted at semester's end, to present a short oral report on one of the poetry collections on the
reading list, to participate fully in class discussions, and to arrange at least three individual
conferences with me. Most students who enroll in W403 have already taken W203 or W303, but
admission to the course is based solely on a submission of a portfolio of six to eight sample
poems.
Students wishing admission into the class should place their writing samples, along with a phone
number and a list of other creative writing classes taken, in my English Department mailbox
(BH442). Admission to the course is competitive, so please submit your portfolio as soon as
possible.
