Subject: Domenico Tiepolo, Master Draftsman
The seminar will focus on the special exhibition of drawings by Domenico Tiepolo that will be
on view at the Indiana University Art Museum from January 15th through March 9, 1997.
Organized by Adelheid M. Gealt, Director of the IUAM, in collaboration with George Knox,
Professor Emeritus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, this exhibition was
initiated by the city of Udine, Italy, to form part of Italy's Tiepolo celebrations of 1996.  On view
in Italy from September 14 through December 31, 1996, the exhibition celebrates the three
hundredth anniversary of Giambattista Tiepolo's birth (1696) by focusing on the accomplishments
of his most talented pupil and collaborator, his son, Domenico Tiepolo (1727-1804).
Built around the exhibition, the seminar will cover both practical and scholarly issues.
