Introduction to the principles of art criticism, focusing mainly on Western art from the
Greco-Roman era to the present day.  Besides an overview of the formal elements of painting and
sculpture (such as composition and technique), lectures and discussions will address the role of art
in society, and architecture.  This course is offered through the support of School of Continuing
Studies.  This course course is taught W 6:50p-8:45p in FA 010.
