Intermediate Finnish II

About the Instructor


The elementary skills in the Finnish language will be reviewed. The vocabulary in Finnish will be expanded. More knowledge will be given about constructing basic sentences in Finnish in order to communicate, orally and in writing, to survive in a (normal) Finnish speaking environment, and in advanced studies in the Finnish language and/or linguistics and/or cultural

studies. Texts in Finnish will be picked up from the textbook (Nuutinen, Suomea suomeksi 2); as well as (easy) newspaper articles and other fiction and non-fiction texts, audio- and videotapes will be used, too. Intense homework activity is expected.

Prerequisites: U331, U332, U431, or equivalent.

Home Work: The student should take part in the class work, do the home work, and assignments.

N.B. The rest of the material will be distributed to the students in class.

Grading: Assignments 30 %; Class work 70 %.

Days and Time: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11:15-12:05.
