Survey of Tibetan Literature (in Translation)
About the
Instructor
A survey of Tibetan literature from its beginnings in the early medieval period (seventh century)
to the present. The different genres of Tibetan literature will be covered with emphasis placed
on religious literature and historical development.
Exams: No examinations.
Required Readings: Reading materials will be
provided in a reader.
Papers: Graduate students are expected to write a
lengthy term paper and provide a brief analysis of a Tibetan text.
Undergraduates will write two term papers.
Days and Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 2:30-3:45.
