Advanced Finnish II

About the Instructor


The basic requirements are the major points of Finnish grammar. The aim of the course is to review Finnish grammar in general and to deepen understanding of the language. Emphasis is also placed on speaking and writing skills, listening comprehension and reading of authentic Finnish fiction, newspapers etc. Old Finnish and Finnish dialects are discussed. Students will do two assignments: comparing written and spoken Finnish, and comparing Finnish dialects.

Prerequisites: U331, U332, U431, or equivalent.

Home Work & Papers: There is no exam in this class, but the student should take part in the

class work, do the home work and assignments, and write term paper in Finnish on literature or civilization (or grammar).
