Surveys the evolution of "racial" ideas and ideologies among African Americans.  The course will
discuss how Black intellectuals have engaged in dialogue and debate about strategies for coping
with injustice, while formulating diverse concepts of justice, salvation, artistry, and positive Black
identity.
