Course format: Lecture: 8:00A-8:50A, MWF, JH A100.
Requirements: None.
Course descriptions: Topic: Environmental Biology. Environmental issues
loom in the world today. We will examine the biology that underlies some
of the larger environmental issues, including global warming, biodiversity,
and pest management in agricultural systems. Our biological understanding
of these issues is incomplete. My goal is that students will understand
how biologists perceive these issues, what insights biology has to offer
for the solution of these issues and also the questions that need to be
asked in the future. The course is applied ecology, peppered with a tiny
bit of evolution.
Required text: "Ecology of a Changing Planet". 1997.
Weekly assignments: TBA.
Exams/papers: TBA.
