Course description: In this course we will study processes involved in
producing biological diversity and adaptation of organisms to their
environment. We will explore the nature of genetic and geographic
variation in order to understand how populations change and how new species
are formed. The course will also cover major concepts in Ecology,
including organismal interactions, biogeography, and human interactions
with the environments.
Required text: Campbell, "Biology" fourth edition.
Weekly assignments: 40-60 pages of text or outside reading plus one
worksheet per week.
Exams/papers: Three exams and a final; worksheets done in discussion groups.
