Course description:  Introduction to viruses.  General outline of
structure, assay, epidemiology, history and immune response. Specific human
viruses discussed in-depth, includes HIV, herpes, and hepatitis.

Required text:  White and Fenner, "Medical Virology". Fourth edition.

Weekly assignments:  One-two papers/chapters.

Exams/papers: Two exams (including final), one paper depending on class
enrollment.
