Course format:  Lecture:  9:30A-10:45A, TR, JH 248.

Requirements:  Upper-class standing or consent of instructor.

Course description:  This course gives an introduction to ethology, the
biological approach to the study of animal behavior.  It surveys the study
of behavior at a variety of levels and in a broad diversity of taxa.

Required text:  Goodenough, McGuire and Wallace, "Perspectives on Animal
Behavior".

Weekly assignments:  Two chapters (or equivalent) of readings from primary
literature.  One-two paragraphs of critique literature every other week.

Exams/papers:  Three or four exams, each counting equally, and a term
paper.  Graduate students present their papers orally to class.
