Communication in black America covers aspects of African and European
interactions in America and other significant circumstances that helped to
forge the distinctive features of African-American communication.
More specifically, the course covers: (1) the defining aspects of
African-American communication, (2) African-American rhetoric as an
instrument of social change, (3) the historical origins and
characteristics of black language (Ebonics), and (4) the nature of hip-hop
language and culture.
