| PHILOSOPHY AND CURRICULUM IN TEACHING FOLKLORE
F801 | 2218 | Dolby
This section of F801 is intended to take up questions of planning
curriculum and choosing teaching materials appropriate for courses in
folklore or ethnomusicology. Students will be asked to examine their own
philosophical approach to teaching as well as the variety of educational
contexts and consider how these affect their choices in designing a
syllabus for a proposed course. We shall examine some of the materials
available for courses--textbooks, readings, films, etc. Primary
requirement will be the development and presentation of a course syllabus.
Students taking the course for more than one credit will be expected to
submit additional work beyond this syllabus development assignment and
participation. The F801 course may be taken twice for credit.
