This course might well be called "Translation and Stylistics."
Its goal is to face and, where possible, resolve, difficulties of
syntax and style through translation of a most varied selection
of prose passages. The texts are drawn from modern works,
ranging from 1945 to a current newspaper or magazine. There are
translations from English to French and from French to English,
with the former predominating.

There is no textbook to buy, but students should own, or have
ready access to, a good desk-size French-English dictionary such
as the recent editions of Harper-Collins, Oxford-Hachette, or
Larousse as well as a good French dictionary, such as the recent
editions of Harper-Collins, Oxford-Hachette, Larousse, or le
Petit Robert.
