E154 or permission of Instructor
CLASS MEETING:
One 50 minute period two times per week for entire semester.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Second-level course in technique and styles of tap dance and the use of tap
dance steps to create
original choreography. Development to tap dance as a musical and visual art
form.
COURSE TOPICS:
Begin with review of basic tap steps through time steps. Some of the steps
to be reviewed and
learned include flaps, shuffles, digs, stomps, heel-drops, cramprolls,
jumps, leaps, riffs, and
toe-heel/heel-toe combinations. Bedise time steps, class will learn
routines to help explore
stylistic and rhythmic possibilities. There will be videos and challenge
days in class.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) absences. Upon a fourth
absence, the student has
three (3) options:
1. receive a grade of F;
2. officially withdraw from the class;
3. follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the Elective
Program Coordinator.
GRADING POLICY:
Students grades will be based primarily on attendance, effort, participation
in challenge days, and
the completion and in-class performance of your own routine.
