This course provides an introduction to the disciplines of advertising and
public relations within the emerging practice of integrated marketing
communications (IMC).  Both the practice of IMC and the individual
disciplines that work within it are growing rapidly, offering expanded
career opportunities for journalism and communications professionals.
They are closely related to journalism, not only in the skill set they
require, but because the majority involve media distribution channels as
the method of carrying the messages.  They require an comprehensive,
current, integrated knowledge of media channels, and learning IMC and its
disciplines requires future media professionals to think about and
experience media from the media consumerUs perspective.
