In-depth reporting experience in public affairs, including local
government institutions, social agencies, and community organizations.
Students learn to identify sources and networks in a community, and to
evaluate the public's information needs and interests through research,
writing and discussion. Information-gathering techniques include using the
Internet and other electronic resources, searching among public records
and organizing information with a spreadsheet program.

Other Assignments:  A steady stream of reporting memos and original news,
feature, interpretive and investigative stories will be written over the
course of the semester.
