Description:

A survey of the most common sounds of languages of the world with training in producing and especially perceiving them, use of the International Phonetic Alphabet, physiology of speech production. Basic acoustics and the acoustic properties of speech sounds. In the laboratory section, students will learn to use laboratory software for recording, analyzing and measuring speech sounds, and will conduct a simple acoustic phonetics experiment of their own design.
