| Seminar in Second Language Acquisition

This seminar is the second course of a two-course series (T632 and T711) that explores current
research issues in second language acquisition theory. Continuing the topics begun in T532, we
will investigate tense-aspect acquisition, adding data from German, Russian, and Pakistani
English. We will discuss the narratives of childern learning L2 french in an instructed setting,
and expand our discussion of UG to include adult learners of French. In addition to continuing
with our reading of The Handbook of Second Language Acquisition and Ressearch Methodology
in Second Language Acquisition, and selected articles from Doughty & Williams (1997) Focus
on Form, we will collectively build a student-negotiated syllabus to round out the readings.
Revisions of T532 papers and expanded research plans will be due in early January, presentations
and papers dealing with original research form the basic requirements of the seminar.
